Each year, ten selected members of the club have the opportunity to participate in the Isla Urbana Summer Program. The program entails a trip to Mexico City during the last week of June. During our time there, we visit community members in areas severely afflicted by the water crisis, install a rainwater harvesting system, and attend a workshop led by Isla Urbana. Participants also explore a variety of cultural activities, such as visiting the pyramids in Teotihuacan. The program requires that for each student participating, a total of $1,000 be raised to benefit Isla Urbana's efforts. For this reason innovative group fundraising efforts will be instrumental in sending all 10 of our students to Mexico. Individual fundraising will also be an important factor in ensuring your spot in the program. Each student is for the most part responsible for paying for their own flight to Mexico, although some group fundraising efforts will help cover some of the flight costs.
By applying to the summer program, you are agreeing to the financial requirements listed above and are also pledging to be an active participant in organizing group fundraisers.
